Padlocks at Pont des Arts in Paris. A love padlock is a padlock which people in love lock to a bridge, fence, gate or similar public fixture to symbolize their love. Often the names or initials of the owners are inscribed on the padlock. The key is thrown away (e.g. in the river Seine) to symbolise love for ever and ever.
